A little care goes a long way. Here’s what you need to know after your wrap leaves the shop.
FIRST 72 HOURS
Give the adhesive time to settle. Avoid washing the vehicle for at least 72 hours after installation. A little haze or a few small bubbles can sometimes appear right after installation. That’s usually normal and should settle as the film acclimates.
WASHING YOUR WRAP
Hand washing is best. Use a mild automotive soap, plenty of clean water, and a clean microfiber wash mitt or soft sponge. Rinse loose dirt first, wash from the top down, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a clean microfiber towel. Avoid automatic brush washes; if you have to use an automatic wash, use touchless.
BUGS, BIRD DROPPINGS & OTHER CRUD
Don’t let contaminants sit. Bugs, bird droppings, tree sap and fuel should be cleaned off as soon as practical. Soak stubborn areas with warm soapy water and wipe gently rather than scrubbing.
PRESSURE WASHERS
Hand washing is safer, but if you use a pressure washer, use a wide fan pattern, moderate pressure, keep some distance from the vinyl and never blast directly into seams or edges. Manufacturer limits vary by film, so ask me if you’re unsure.
A FEW EASY RULES
• Avoid abrasive compounds and harsh solvents.
• Avoid brush-style automatic car washes.
• Keep the vehicle out of prolonged sun/heat when possible.
• Clean contaminants quickly.
• Use products intended for vinyl wraps and the specific finish you have.
